BioStrategy Partners is a virtual
incubator providing technology and business development services to
emerging stage life sciences companies in the Greater Philadelphia
region. We specialize in offering business guidance and support to
projects and nascent companies led by first-time entrepreneurs and
scientific founders, helping them make it to the next level of
commercialization. We offer a full range of support services designed
especially for concept-stage and pre-seed companies, supplied through our
network of expert volunteers, partners and service providers on a reduced
fee, deferred compensation, or co-funded basis. We do not take equity and
rely upon grants, sponsorships, fees, and earned income to support our
operations.

From the Executive Director
Karen J. Hanson, Ph.D.
We've introduced a new feature to BioNewslink - occasional profiles of
the projects and companies in BioSP's portfolio. We work with these
companies to reduce founding stage risk through technical and business
assistance and access to essential professional services. Our goal with
our projects is to increase the commercial impact of a license or start-up.
The BioSP approach, which also includes educating, advising and guiding
these inventors and first-time entrepreneurs, puts meat on the bones of
very early undertakings, helps them reach their next level of
commercialization, and increases the base of entrepreneurial activity in
the Greater Philadelphia region.

PROFILE: Technical Vision, Inc.
Technical Vision, Inc. (TVI) is an
emerging company with a concept for an optical device that assists blind
and low-vision people to perceive obstacles in the nearby environment.
After participating in BioSP's diligence review that included a leading
expert on low vision rehabilitation from
Salus
University
,
TVI was invited into the BioSP Corporate Development Program with a goal
to prepare the company for an initial round of investment.
BioSP is providing hands-on guidance and
assistance that includes funding from a Keystone Innovation Grant to enroll
the company in
Temple
University
's
Enterprise Management Consulting Program, introductions to Ben Franklin
Technology Partners' Technology Commercialization Program for engineering
assistance, and helping the company to identify and contact advocacy groups
that may provide early funding for prototype development.
According to CEO Sergey Naumovsky,
"BioSP has gone above and beyond just being helpful, and in no small
part the life of our project can be attributed to their assistance and
guidance. I am looking forward to working with BioSP and am very thankful
for all their time and assistance with the development of a device that
will allow blind people to improve their lives."
