Germinator is a fee-based program that provides strategic direction to an academic Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) for inventions in which the office is considering an investment.   Two tracks – Planning and Consultation – offer considerable flexibility based on OTT’s needs and/or the inventor’s experience with commercialization.  Both bring real-time industry perspectives to inform decision-making.

  • The Planning Track, for inventors new to commercialization, maximizes probability of success, whether for future licensing, as the foundation for a start-up life sciences company, or for packaging and marketing expertise and know-how.
  • The Consultation Track offers targeted assistance and specialized expertise when the inventor has previous commercialization experience or OTT desires additional perspectives.

Planning Track Highlights
An in-person Commercialization Planning Session with two-three commercial and technical resources
A formal, detailed Summary Report containing specific commercial and technical recommendations

Consultation Track Highlights
Resources and expertise sourced and made available:
To deepen OTT’s understanding of a particular market
To address an inventor’s specific questions and/or OTT’s specific concerns
