Stephen Nappi joined Temple University in May of 2008 as its Director of Technology Transfer Operations. He is responsible for managing and developing systems for reviewing, protecting, and commercializing intellectual property created by Temple faculty, staff and students.  Since joining Temple, Mr. Nappi established a new invention evaluation system, deployed strategic marketing strategies for available partnership opportunities, launched an educational workshop series for faculty members, and created the university’s first Intellectual Property Advisory Committee and Technology Transfer Industry Advisory Committee.  He is also implementing Temple’s first comprehensive technology transfer information management system to improve service to inventors, increase process efficiency, and allow greater access to partnerships opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses.

Prior to joining Temple, Mr. Nappi played an integral role in the formation of Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) technology transfer program in 2001.  He advanced through all levels of technology transfer including licensing associate, assistant director, and was later appointed the Interim Assistant Vice President for Research and Director of Technology Transfer in 2006. He co-founded FAU’s first Gap Fund Program to further develop inventions with the goal of increasing their commercial potential.  Mr. Nappi participated in statewide gap funding efforts and partnered to attract a state-funded Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research to the FAU campus.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2002 with a concentration in management and marketing from FAU and continues to pursue MBA coursework in finance.
