BioLaunch611+ Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) is a BioStrategy Partners program that provides professional services designed to move existing and newly forming KIZ companies to their next level of development or commercialization.

BioStrategy Partners, through its KIZ program, engages companies at their earliest stages, including the pre-company concept stage. We help founders and first-time CEOs to successfully achieve their next level of development or commercialization. Through our professional staff and our professional Service Provider Network, we educate, guide and prepare our client companies to meet the investment requirements of the next stage of investors including venture capitalists, angels and economic development agencies such as Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the PA Life Sciences Greenhouses.

The foundation and starting point of the KIZ program is the Diligence Program, a hallmark service of BioStrategy Partners that provides assistance with planning and start-up business development. Certain KIZ Companies may receive additional services through the Corporate Development Program (CDP), which offers a higher level of “hands-on” assistance and management training.

KIZ participating acedemic-research partners are able to take advantage of our Commercialization Germinator.

The KIZ territory includes parts of the tri-county Bucks-Montgomery-Philadelphia region and its industry focus is life sciences.

KIZ-eligible companies must meet the following criteria:

  • in operation for less than eight years
  • located in the BioLaunch KIZ territory
  • operating in the life sciences industry sector

About Pennsylvania’s KIZ Program

The KIZ Program is a cornerstone of Governor Rendell’s economic stimulus package to strengthen Pennsylvania ’s overall economy.  The KIZ program promotes economic growth by assisting entrepreneurs to successfully form Pennsylvania technology-based companies through public-private partnerships that help entrepreneurs with jobs creation, skilled workforce development, training, loans, tax credits, and other forms of economic assistance.

KIZ institutions of higher education and KIZ companies are eligible for priority review of various Department of Community and Economic Development grant and loan programs.
